Our Journey: Charting the Course of Coastal Monitoring

WaveTrack began in 2018 as a small research initiative at the University of British Columbia, driven by a passion for understanding coastal dynamics. Our founders, a team of oceanographers and data scientists, recognized the growing threat of coastal erosion and the lack of accessible, real-time monitoring tools. Starting with a single buoy deployed off the coast of Vancouver Island, we collected our first wave data, laying the foundation for what would become a comprehensive coastal intelligence platform.

By 2021, we had expanded our buoy network to key locations across the Pacific Northwest and integrated AI-driven predictive models. A pivotal moment was our partnership with the Coastal Resilience Project in 2023, which validated our technology for municipal planning. Today, WaveTrack serves research institutions and government agencies, providing critical insights into shoreline resilience and tidal cycles. Our mission remains: to harness technology for the sustainable stewardship of our coastlines.

Our Mission: Decoding Coastal Dynamics

At WaveTrack, our mission is to harness the power of AI and oceanographic data to protect and understand our coastlines. We believe in a future where coastal communities are resilient, marine ecosystems are preserved, and planning is driven by precise, predictive intelligence. Our work focuses on translating complex wave behavior, erosion patterns, and tidal cycles into actionable insights for researchers, planners, and policymakers.
